HDM-4 Version 2.12.02 Upgrade (Feb 2024)

HDM-4 Version 2.12.02 Upgrade is now available free to registered HDM-4 Version 2 licence holders by downloading from the HDMGlobal website. This update resolves several issues identified in HDM-4 Version 2 as shown below:

1) CONCRETE WORKS: The Maintenance quantity for slab replacement was incorrectly
calculated. This has been resolved.

2) ANALYSIS: If a responsive maintenance standard was defined, and they contained
pothole patching or unsealed grading operations, these were not always applied
to the section following the improvement's completion. This has now been resolved.

3) IMPORT: When importing a section with edge drains included, the software was
reporting an error if the number of NMT Lanes = 0. This has been resolved to
ensure the Number of NMT Lanes is checked only when the option to include NMT
lanes is set to true.

4) PROGRAMME ANALYSIS: When performing a multi-year forward programme analysis
without economic evaluation, the software would sometimes stop responding and
close down. This error has been resolved

5) MAINTENANCE EFFECTS: An overlay on an AMSB pavement did not take into account
the thickness of the surface layers after the overlay when resetting the after-works
pavement type. Volume 6 of the HDM-4 manuals indicates that the pavement type
should remain an AMSB pavement type unless a critical thickness is reached, defined
as Hmin, at which the pavement type should change to AMAP.

   If PAVEbw = AMSB then
      If the HSOLD + HSNEW > Hmin then
         PAVEaw = AMAP
      otherwise
         PAVEaw = AMSB
   Otherwise
      PAVEaw = result from Table D2.2

   Where
      Hmin is defined as a workspace calibration parameter, default value = 120mm
      HSOLD = HSNEWbw + HSOLDbw
      HSNEW = HSNEWaw = thickness of the overlay

This has been corrected, and a value of Hmin is assumed to be 120mm.

6) SECTIONS: If a user defined the strength of a pavement using the Benkelman Beam
method, the calculation of pavement strength did not take into account whether the
base was stabilised or not. A non-stabilised pavement was assumed. This error has
now been corrected.
